Our Lady's Statue at the Chaplaincy

Those who have been at the Chaplaincy in the past will remember the Telephone Box in the garden. And you will remember looking inside the Telephone Box and seeing a large statue of Our Lady. The phone box and its contents had been in the garden for longer than any of us could remember, and the statue was in a poor state of repair to say they least - paint flaking off, fingers missing, coloured paint faded etc.

So a couple of weeks ago, some of the students brought Our Lady into the conservatory and started some renovations. All the flaking paint was rubbed off, and she was given several coats of white paint to start with. Her missing fingers were replaced, and a couple of holes in her dress were repared. Finally she was painted in her colours and made beautiful.

She now sits in our common room - She is too big for the chapel, and too beautiful to go back to the Telephone Box, so she is at the centre of the social life of our Chaplaincy Community.
