Retreat at Bamford
From 29th - 31st October a group of students from the Chaplaincy went to the Bamford Centre, a house belonging to the Diocese, next to the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows. Bamford is village in the Peak district and is perfect for a couple of days for quiet prayer and retreat.
We started our retreat on Friday evening with some Taize prayer. On the Saturday we had Morning prayer in the garden, overlooking the valley with fields, cows, sheep etc. We prayed Psalm 104 which is a prayer of praise for the wonders of Creation
The retreat went on with a prayer around the Word of God and later on we had prayer with Expsotion of Blessed Sacrament. We had one hour of music and short readings from Scripture followed by an hour of silence. It was a valuable and preciouse time of silence.
On the Sunday, we went to Mass for the feast of All Saints, in the parish. Later on we had a reflection and finished the weekend with a Pub Lunch in one of the pubs in Bamford. We thak God for our beautiful weekend.
